One Idea to Try This Month
The 48-Hour Call: A Free Experiment for Bringing Guests Back
One phone call, made within two days of a visit, costs nothing and takes ten minutes.
By Josias Andujar · · 1 min read
For the next 30 days, every guest gets a personal phone call within 48 hours of their visit. Not an email blast, not a newsletter signup. A call from the member who sat with them.
How to run it
- Before each meeting, assign one member to each guest. That member sits with the guest and owns the follow-up.
- Within 48 hours, the member calls. Three questions: What stood out to you? What questions do you have? Can I save you a seat next time?
- Log each call in one shared place: guest name, date of call, whether they came back.
- At the end of the month, count how many guests returned for a second visit, and compare that with the month before.
Why it's worth a month
Rotary's general secretary said in 2020 that members two to three years in are the most likely to quit. (Rotary News) Belonging is built early. A Kiwanis club in Mansfield, Texas, rebuilt from 6 members to 21 largely by staying in regular contact with every member. (Kiwanis International)
Cost: nothing. Time: about ten minutes per guest. Club size doesn't matter.
